Sharon’s Whole Wheat Bread

1323116735614From the Alpine 1st ward food storage guru and home-maker extraordinaire, Sharon Mc Manus. This makes 3 easy, but delicious loaves of bread.

Serves: 3 loaves
Ingredients
  • 1 T yeast
  • 1 t sugar
  • ½ c warm water
  • 1 ½ t salt
  • 1 vitamin c (crushed) 1000 mg unflavored
  • or 2 T wheat gluten (makes bread less crumbly)
  • 4 c hot water
  • ¾ c honey
  • ¾ c oil
  • 6 c wheat flour (approximate)
  • ¼ c 9 grain cracked cereal optional
Instructions
  1. Mix yeast, sugar and water and set aside until proofed. (Can use honey instead)
  2. Combine ingredients adding flour slowly one cup at a time until dough pulls away from sides of mixer.
  3. Grease counter, divide dough into 3 loaves and roll out. Then place in pans then place a thin damp cloth over loaves and let the dough rise at least one inch above pans. Preheat oven to 350 then place pans in oven for 35 minutes.
